GloriaFood Alternative: The Best Replacements Before GloriaFood Shuts Down
GloriaFood is shutting down on 30 April 2027
GloriaFood, the free online ordering platform owned by Oracle, closes for good on 30 April 2027. If your restaurant takes online orders through it, you need something else in place before then.
There's no grace period. On 30 April your GloriaFood ordering page stops working, and anyone who clicks your old link gets an error instead of a menu.
Switching isn't hard. It's a lot easier now, while you can run the old and new systems side by side, than in the last week of April along with every other restaurant that left it late.
What GloriaFood did
It gave restaurants a menu page where customers could order for collection or delivery, with no commission taken on orders. The core product was free, which is why so many independents and takeaways on tight budgets ended up on it.
Oracle bought GloriaFood and has now decided to shut it down completely.
What to check in a replacement
Start with cost. GloriaFood took no cut of your orders, so a platform that charges a percentage per order will feel like a big step backwards. A flat monthly fee is much closer to what you're used to.
Then the practical questions:
- Can you import your menu, or are you typing it in again item by item?
- Does the ordering page look like your restaurant, or like the software company?
- Does it connect to the POS you already have?
- Are there loyalty or marketing tools to keep customers ordering after the switch?
- Who do you call when something breaks on a Friday night?
The best GloriaFood alternatives
1. Flipdish - best overall replacement
Flipdish is the closest fit for UK and Irish restaurants moving off GloriaFood. You get:
- Commission-free online ordering through your own branded website and app
- POS integration, so online and counter orders land in one system
- Self-service kiosks if you have dine-in
- Loyalty, email and SMS marketing built in
- AI marketing tools that automatically chase customers who've stopped ordering
- Help moving over from your current platform
It works for a single takeaway and for multi-site groups. You pay a monthly platform fee, not a commission, so your costs don't go up every time you have a busy weekend.
GloriaFood never had branded mobile apps, a full restaurant POS or an AI phone agent that answers the phone and takes the order itself. Flipdish has all of them.
2. Hungrrr
A UK-based ordering platform for restaurants and takeaways. Branded apps and web ordering, aimed at independents.
3. Slerp
Built for food and drink brands that want a premium direct-to-consumer shop. It suits higher-end operators with complicated product ranges more than a typical takeaway.
4. Square Online
Ties into Square's payments and POS. Fine if you already run on Square, but it's a general tool and doesn't go as deep on restaurant features as the dedicated platforms.
5. Just Eat / Deliveroo (not recommended as your main channel)
These aren't really GloriaFood replacements. They take 30-35% commission on every order and you don't own the customer data. Run them alongside direct ordering if you want the extra reach, but don't move your GloriaFood customers onto them.
How to move from GloriaFood to Flipdish
- Export your menu from GloriaFood while it's still running.
- Set up your Flipdish account and import or rebuild the menu.
- Update your ordering links everywhere they appear: website, social profiles, Google Business listing.
- Tell customers where to order now - the new link or your branded app.
- Put a test order all the way through checkout before you go live.
Once you're on Flipdish you also get the loyalty and marketing automation GloriaFood never had.
Don't leave it until April 2027
The closer it gets to the deadline, the more restaurants will be queuing for migration help. Moving early gives you time to update links and tell customers, and lets staff learn the new system while GloriaFood still works as a fallback. You can also start building a loyalty list before the old system goes dark, so fewer regulars drift off during the switch.
If a real chunk of your orders comes through GloriaFood, put this near the top of the list.
